A personal commitment to fight selfishness by making the world better for others
I pledge to practice altruism in my daily life.
I recognize that a world dominated by selfishness, greed, cruelty, and indifference cannot solve the great challenges facing humanity.
I therefore commit myself to doing what I reasonably can to promote kindness, compassion, cooperation, generosity, and service to others.
MY PLEDGE
I pledge to:
☐ Treat other people with dignity, respect, and compassion.
☐ Help someone in need when I am reasonably able to do so.
☐ Look for opportunities to make a positive difference rather than simply asking, “What’s in it for me?”
☐ Share my time, knowledge, skills, or resources when doing so can meaningfully help others.
☐ Resist hatred, cruelty, prejudice, and unnecessary conflict.
☐ Consider how my decisions affect other people, future generations, animals, and the natural world.
☐ Practice generosity without expecting something in return.
☐ Speak up when selfishness or injustice causes unnecessary harm.
☐ Encourage others to choose cooperation and compassion over greed and hostility.
☐ Remember that small acts of altruism, multiplied by millions of people, can change the world.

I understand that altruism does not require perfection or self-sacrifice at every moment. It means making a conscious effort to leave the world better for other people than I found it.
